The Frymier Family
Dereck & AshLee were married in 2009 and have been serving together in ministry for 15 years. They are Indianapolis natives and grew up on the east side of Indy.
Dereck graduated from Warren Central High School in the class of 2003 and played football for the Warriors. Go Warriors! He is a true outdoorsman who loves to hunt and fish. He enjoys all sports and is an Indiana Hoosiers & Colts fan.
AshLee is a musician and artist. She loves to spend her time playing the piano, painting and creating digital art. AshLee enjoys exploring Greenwood and Indianapolis to find a good cup of coffee and new restaurants. Her current favorites are Fresh Pots in Old Town Greenwood and The Mocha Nut in Indianapolis.
Together with their 3 boys and golden-doodle Smokey, they love to adventure in their Jeep Wrangler and eat ice cream.
Our Why
In 2011, Dereck and AshLee moved to Sebring, FL where they were Lead Pastors for 6 years. They relocated to Knoxville, TN in 2017 to be part of a new church plant, City Hills Church. They served on staff at City Hills as Next Generation Pastors from 2018 to 2023.
While in Bible College, Dereck began dreaming about starting a church in the Indianapolis area. Dereck kept this dream in his heart, believing for God’s perfect timing, for over 15 years before it would come to pass. In 2022, during a time of 21 days of prayer, Dereck and AshLee both felt a drawing back to Indiana to start a life-giving church. Their pastors, Brandon and Kara Shanks, gave them their blessing and City Hills Church rallied behind Dereck and AshLee with huge generosity to make relocating and church planting a reality.
After a year of dedicated prayer, the Lord laid the name “Legacy Church” on their hearts. They felt God drawing them and opening doors on the south side of Indianapolis. So in January 2024, they relocated their family to Greenwood, IN.
Legacy Church officially launched on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Greenwood Christian Academy. They, along with an incredible team, are building a church where all are welcome and everyone will experience the life and freedom found through Jesus Christ. Here’s more about the church they see.
